out of = COP IT!

U know, its easy to make a tape with the hottest joints on the radio at any given moment but TopSpin seems to like to venture in another direction. Im'a start callin' this cat "The King of the B-Side", cuz he puts out some hot tapes & he actually digs for the tracks that he puts on his slow jam & R&B tapes. They definitely r not the hottest joints on the radio but they ARE that "next joint" on the artists album, if u know what I'm sayin'. From the tapes of his that I have heard, his slow jam tapes are always ear candy & his Pillow Talk series is always smooth & soulful with virtually NO TALKIN, which is always a plus on a slow jam tape. Top also spans some decades with this effort. He has a track from Glenn Jones & one from S.O.S. Band. All in all this is a very solid tape & would've been a classic except for one track that was more uptempo than the rest, which was "Don't Disturb This Groove" from The System. To me it did disturb the groove & although it is a good song, it kept this otherwise very soulful CD from making it into the Hall Of Fame.

DJ TOPSPIN'S 2 CENTS:  'Don't Disturb This Groove' IS a CLASSIC SLOW JAM. I think its strong drum track, rather than its actual tempo (because its mixed directly from S.O.S. Band's "Weekend Girl", with no tempo change), is what threw King Apex off. I like to think of it as an 'aggressive quiet storm' cut. I'm sure you'll enjoy it regardless.
